A CSX train derailed near the 200 block of Freda Villa in Madison, TN around 2:30 am on Saturday. The Nashville Fire Department said one train was trying to pass an idle train on the tracks in Freda Villa. The locomotive was able to successfully pass the idle train but the rail cars struck the train. Eight cars derailed. One crashed into an empty storage building. A sealed tanker car containing ethanol landed in the of one of the homes.
Local residents were evacuated temporarily. Multiple crews assessed the scene. Residents were able return to their homes once crews determined that there was no danger from the ethanol car. There were no injuries or leaks reported.
