BNSF Railway submitted a request for a second extension from the 2 year periodic testing requirements regarding locking tests.
According to BNSF, since the original waiver was approved 95.2% of all eligible locations across their network have been enrolled in the waiver program and have had no issues. BNSF is confident that it has reduced the amount of disruptions to the signal circuits and operations.
At this time, BNSF is requesting an indefinite waiver and agrees to maintain the testing procedures and testing intervals that are outlined in the waiver.
Additionally, BNSF is asking to eliminate the requirement to submit an annual updated list of eligible locations to FRA. Interested parties may submit comments on the petition until March 16, 2020.
