Michigan State Police are investigating a derailment that occurred on Saturday afternoon in Mancelona. Seven of the 23 Great Lakes Central railcars left the track. The cargo on board the train was non-hazardous so there was no threat to the residents in the area.
Lake Street east of US-131 will remain closed until all of the rail cars have been cleared. Residents are asked to avoid the area to prevent any injuries.
