A saltwater truck and a Union Pacific train collided, causing the locomotive and 12-15 rail cars to derail. An 18 mile section of Louisiana Highway 21 in Caddo and Red River parishes has been closed.
The driver of the truck was not injured but the engineer was transported to the hospital for unknown injuries.
According to Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Cindy Chadwick, there are no confirmed leaks of hazardous materials and no evacuations have been ordered. No reports of injuries have been reported.
Traffic is being diverted in DeSoto parish and southbound traffic in Caddo parish.
