Effective July 1, 2015 UPS will be requiring all new and existing customers to obtain pre-approval from UPS in order to ship lithium metal batteries without equipment (UN3090) via UPS Air Services. The pre-approval applies not only to those batteries that are considered lightly regulated but also to those are fully regulated and require dangerous goods shipping papers. The purpose of this requirement is to ensure that proper training has been completed and that all applicable safety regulations are being followed for such shipments.
