The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has issued a Final Rule making inflation adjustments to the amount of civil penalties for violating the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSRs) and the Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMRs). The Final Rule will eliminate the inconsistencies that currently exist among regulatory languages throughout the FMCSRs and provide a explanation of the process that was used to determine the new penalty amounts. The effective date for both the Final Rule and the new penalties is June 2, 2015.
